ABOUT MOJAVE PRODUCTIONS

With offices and studio space in Southern California’s picturesque High Desert, between Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park, Mojave Productions is anything but a typical television production company.

Founded in 1984, Mojave Productions has specialized in cooking, healthy nutrition and active lifestyle programming, beginning with “Food For Thought” and “Eating Well,” originally created for local Palm Springs network affiliate KESQ-TV. We also co-produced the series “Healthy Lifestyles” for The Hospital Satellite Network. Our hardy location crew, shoot and edit hundreds of hours of footage throughout North America, Europe and Australia for myriad productions.

We work amidst awe-inspiring vistas rather than cramped office cubicles and edit bays. We breathe warm, dry, unpolluted desert air instead of artificially scented air conditioning. And blissful quiet, accented occasional coyote song at dusk, fills our ears instead of the horns, sirens and bellowing populace of a big city. No wonder we’re laid back, work with Public Television and enjoy what we do!

Recently, Mojave’s focus has been on educational programming for Public Television. We engage with PBS member stations throughout the U.S., providing their audiences with award winning “How To” and “Why To” entertainment.

More at home on a salmon river or at the range cooking his catch, our executive producer is nonetheless comfortable and tenured as an on-camera presenter and behind-the-camera administrator. As an American Culinary Federation & Chefs Du Cuisine Association award winner, David is well positioned to lead Mojave Production’s multi-decade focus on food, cooking and active lifestyle programming. In his 60’s, and solidly part of the Boomer Generation, he speaks from experience as the Host/Chef of our current national Public Television production, Food Over 50.

His skateboards might be in storage, but not his guitars – Jon is a video production marvel. Educated at The Art Institute of Houston, Jon has produced, directed, filmed and edited hundreds of multi-media projects for fashion and glamor, the auto industry, corporate incentive programs and music videos during his 20+ year professional career. He is the creative and technical force behind Food Over 50, with overall responsibility for  shoot-day production, post-production and crew management. His public television record stands for itself – 2 Seasons and 26 episodes of Food Over 50 resulting in a 2019 Taste Award and immeasurably positive nutrition education to American viewers.
